New Compact Dryer Range for Converting Industry

In direct response to market demands and listening to OEM and customer requirements, Spooner has developed a new improved range of air flotation dryers specifically for the converting industry. This new range is based on designs and experience from other industry areas, tailored to suit converting applications, and provides compact and economical solutions to our customers’ drying requirements.

The range tackles a number of issues experienced in the industry and offers a number of benefits including non contact drying (eliminating any roll contamination issues and allowing coating on both sides of the web in a single pass) and high heat transfer rates (resulting in shorter dryers). A major aspect of the new range is the integrated design, with the fan, heater, and damper controls for each zone mounted within the dryer enclosure. The dryers are also modular, with independent retraction on each zone. These features result in a very compact dryer, and allow building and testing of each zone separately in our factory, with the dryer zones then being shipped ready for installation on site. Once on site, parallel retraction makes for easy access for cleaning and maintenance.

Spooner has already installed over 150 metres of air flotation dryers based on this new improved dryer range and employs a number of measures to improve energy efficiency including inverter driven fans, humidity control, heat recovery, efficient nozzle design for maximum heat transfer and automatic, closed loop control of the dryer body pressure.
