The ModuleDryer™ is the result of a joint co-operation between Spooner Industries and Voith Paper. Spooner Industries was selected by Voith Paper due to the company’s reputation and experience in providing innovative drying and web handling solutions to the paper industry. The project began when Voith Paper developed a concept for a new generation of coating machines in which open draws are reduced to an absolute minimum. Advantages of this concept are overall shorter machines, superior web stability, reduced downtime and energy savings. The ModuleDryer™ is a key component in this concept.
The ModuleDryer™ is the latest in forced convection drying technology. It combines high evaporation rates with excellent web handling, allowing simultaneous turning and drying or cooling of the coated web. This results in a compact drying solution suitable for both on or off machine applications.
The key element of the ModuleDryer™ is the unique nozzle system employed in the turning section(s). This nozzle system allows the coated web to be turned through a given angle in a stable manner without any loss of heat transfer.
As its name suggests, the ModuleDryer™ is fully modular and can combine the full range of heating, drying and cooling technologies. Multiple zoning allows the system to be tailored to satisfy individual customer requirements.
