Spooner Technology Solutions
Spooner adds a new dimension to forced convection drying performance and film stabilisation through an innovative product range that caters for virtually all converting applications.
Air Flotation Technology
Spooner is a world leader in the field of air flotation technology. A range of airbar systems has been developed to suit the entire range of converting applications. All Spooner air flotation systems feature uniform heat transfer, stable web transportation and non contact operation.
High Performance Compact (HPC) Dryer
This innovative high performance development features conventional Spooner air flotation airbars supplemented by an equal number of hole impingement airbars. The system provides very high heat transfer potential resulting in shorter machine lengths whilst maintaining excellent non-contact web handling characteristics.
Low Tension Air Flotation Technology
Spooner is the world leader in air flotation systems for very low tension applications such as film stabilisation.
Module Dryer
A ground breaking innovation which allows a single or double sided coated sheet to be simultaneously dried and turned through a given angle without contact. This system can be particularly effective in maximising drying, curing or cooling length within a limited machine footprint.
A pilot facility, available for customer trials, has been installed on the Voith Paper off machine coater line in Heidenheim, Germany.
Single / Double Side Air Impingement Dryer
Spooner offers a range of air impingement systems custom-designed to provide the heat transfer characteristics demanded by the process. The web is transported through the system either by rollers or conveyor.
Benefits:
- High drying performance
- Competitive costs relative to performance
- Flexibility in operation
Web Stabiliser
The Spooner web stabiliser utilises Spooner air flotation airbars to provide non-contact web support, stabilisation and crease suppression in unsupported web draws.
Through-Air Dryer
Spooner is experienced in through air drying, curing, cooling and conditioning systems for porous products. These systems ensure that the air is passed through the product uniformly and provide even and high performance heat transfer.
Spooner Air Turn
Spooner was first to introduce the Air Turn to the industry for non-contact web turning and is still very much at the cutting edge of this technology.
With over 250 units installed around the world, the Spooner Air Turn is well established as the market leader. The Spooner system ensures stable web turning without wrinkles, edge flutter or coating disturbance.
Pilot Facility
The Spooner Research and Development facility located in Ilkley in the UK, boasts a comprehensive range of pilot equipment for testing, trial work and process validation of an extensive range of converting materials and applications and is manned by full-time specialists.
Strict confidentiality is assured and we welcome the opportunity to enter into collaborative partnerships and agreements with our customers, to facilitate the development of new equipment and processes.
