Spooner Technology Solutions
The following range of Spooner’s forced convection technology provides unrivaled drying performance and web stabilisation and has resulted in system installations for many of the world’s major manufacturers including Arjo Wiggins, Stora Enso, International paper, Oji Paper and UPM-Kymmene. It is also the reason customers across the global paper industry keep coming back to Spooner.

Air Flotation Dryer
Air Flotation nozzles transfer heat to a moving web and support it without contact on a cushion of air as it moves through the dryer. This results in a very uniform drying profile and a stable web with no flutter.
Crease Removal
Spooner have recently developed innovative flotation nozzles which promote the rmeoval of wrinkles and flutes from the paper. These nozzles can be incorporated into the complete range of Spooner flotation dryers.
Air Flotation Coolers
Non-contact high performance cooling equipment for films and paper.
High Performance Compact (HPC) Dryer
Developed in response to the industry’s requirement for a high performance drying system with a small footprint, the HPC dryer combines web handling and the mass transfer capabilities of a conventional flotation system to achieve the heat transfer capabilities and compactness of a typical Infra Red system.
ModuleDryer
Spooner’s latest state-of-the-art drying system was developed jointly with Voith Paper of Germany.
This unique drying system has advanced non-contact flotation to enhance quality and printability at production speeds in excess of 2400 m/min.
The whole drying system can handle either single or simultaneous, two-sided coated grades. On multiple coating stations there is no need to reverse the sheet direction, as is normal on conventional coating machines. This results in staggering reductions of up to 35% in the overall machine length as well as the amount of web material in the machine at any one time. This simplifies and reduces the number of components on the line so requires less maintenance and has fewer breakdowns.
A pilot facility, available for customer trials, has been installed on the Voith Paper off machine coater line in Heidenheim, Germany.

Air Turn
Originally developed for the paper industry and now in use in numerous mills across the world, Spooner was first to introduce the Air Turn for non-contact web turning. Customers choose the Spooner Air Turn over others as the machines are easy to maintain, have good web stability and have a constant ride height irrespective of web tensions.
Single / Double Side Air Impingement Dryer
The Spooner Impingement Dryer is available as either single or double sided and in both roller support and conveyor configurations. Used where a flotation dryer is not required, The Spooner Impingement Dryer has high operational flexible and is very cost competitive for the drying performance delivered.

Web Stabiliser
The Spooner Web Stabiliser utilizes Spooner Air Bar nozzle technology to provide improved drying rates whilst reducing web flutter and edge buzz. This avoids web breaks and reduces sheet wrinkling.
